CAPTAIN: Bart de ZWART

Bart has been on the water his entire life. Raised in the Netherlands by parents who ran a sailing school and charter business, sailing was second nature from a young age. Since then, he has captained a wide variety of boats—handling deliveries, private cruises, and charter trips across the globe.

A true waterman, Bart has spent decades exploring the world by sea. After studying tourism in Holland, he set out on his own adventures—sailing 3 to 6 months a year across the Mediterranean, Red Sea, Atlantic, and Caribbean. He later combined his passion for wind and water by co-owning windsurf centers in Greece, Venezuela, and eventually Maui with his wife.

From 2005 to 2008, Bart spent three years sailing around the world with his wife and daughter, gaining extensive offshore experience and a deep appreciation for life at sea.

Bart is also known internationally as “Mr. Endurance” in the world of stand-up paddling. He has completed and led numerous SUP expeditions around the world. He’s a four-time winner of the prestigious 11-City Tour and, in 2018, won the SUP division of the Yukon 1000—the longest paddle race on Earth, covering 1,000 miles through the Canadian and Alaskan wilderness.

A licensed captain and big-wave rider, Bart is experienced in everything from long ocean crossings to surfing, windsurfing, wing foiling, and SUP racing. Calm, capable, and endlessly adventurous, he brings a deep love of the ocean and years of hands-on expertise to every charter.

CHEF: Dagmar de ZWART

Dagmar started her career as a graphic designer in Germany, but her love for the ocean soon led her in a new direction. She learned to sail in 1990 and, not long after, she and her husband began running windsurfing centers in Greece, Venezuela, and Hawaii.

From 2005 to 2008, Dagmar sailed around the world with her husband and daughter—a life-changing adventure that deepened her connection to the sea. In 2009, the family settled in Maui, where they launched a windsurf school and rental center.

Dagmar has always loved cooking and began taking advanced classes in 2019 to take her skills to the next level. Since 2020, she and her husband have been working full-time aboard a 57-foot catamaran in French Polynesia, where Dagmar serves as the Chef.

She’s known for her warm hospitality, creative cooking, and calm, can-do attitude—always making guests feel welcome and well taken care of.

– Came to learn Wingfoil -

Wow ! Wow ! Wow

I thought I knew what hospitality was, but Dagmar, Bart & Maya have truly set a new standard.

Firstly, everything was already considered and done before we needed to ask…

Second, any request was instantly supported. So great to be with the proud Captain- owners of the ZEN QUEST who went above and beyond everyday to make this the best run trip I have ever been on by a long stretch.

From a tiny kitchen we ate like kings from Dagmar’s creative and balanced menu…

Our foiling progress was patiently supported every day with new challenges under Bart’s experienced and watchful eyes.

Maya was a constant sunny and kind first mate, always at hands with a smile 😊

I feel like I’m leaving a family. Thank you !!!

M.

Spectacular trip on Zen Quest -

Excellent service!

We had a spectacular experience sailing around Bora Bora on Zen Quest with two other couples.

The catamaran was spacious and beautiful, and the views were simply unforgettable.

Captain Bart, Dagmar, and Anna provided excellent service - warm, professional, and attentive.

Snorkeling with sharks and colorful fish was a highlight, and we enjoyed delicious gourmet meals every day.

Peaceful sunsets, crystal-clear lagoons, and perfect company made it all unforgettable.

Highly recommended for a luxurious and unique Bora Bora adventure!

“I have visited and stayed in beautiful accommodations across the world over many years of travels and I consider my time with the crew in French Polynesia as easily in my top three favorite all time vacations. I jokingly coined the term "Post-Travel-Depression" (PTD) to express the sadness of a wonderful trip ending. After this trip I experienced the longest PTD yet. Dagmar and Bart had an incredible way of making me feel at home, as part of the family while also spoiling us with deliciously nourishing food. It was a beautiful balance of the comfort of being home while experiencing the benefits of a perfect vacation (fun, adventure, amazing foods and drinks, constantly surrounded by jaw-dropping scenery). When deciding to go on this trip, I admittedly was hesitant to spend my 30th birthday on a boat with strangers when I don't touch adrenaline sports like kitesurfing and wing. But I couldn't have imagined a better birthday and the days surrounding it. I have no doubt embarking on this journey with this crew will also give you some PTD, but it will be worth it!”

“Our experience with Dagmar and Bart on their boat was simply extraordinary. Starting with the marvelous food (dinner dishes worth Michelin star), going through their eagerness for letting us having a perfect stay all the time, and ending with the incredible expertise of Bart in kiting and watersports.

We are counting the days for repeating the experience with them!”

_____________________________

“The Zen Quest exceeded my expectations. Bart and Dagmar are lovely, easy-going hosts who serve up daily smiles, adventures and incredible meals. The boat itself is a 10; perfectly maintained, spacious, and intimate at the same time. Don’t hesitate to spend a holiday on the Zen Quest!”

______________________________

“Our experience aboard the Zen Quest with Bart and Dagmar was phenomenal! Truly one of the best trips we have ever taken together! Captain Bart is calm and capable, ensuring each guest’s safety. He knew just where to take us each day to find the best conditions for the next adventure! Each and every meal was a culinary masterpiece - expertly prepared and presented by Dagmar. They are a perfect team, joyfully doing the work to maximize the guest experience! Best in French Polynesia! Can’t wait to do it again!”

______________________________

“I have had the pleasure of being on the Zen Quest two times with Bart and Dagmar as hosts. The experience has always been wonderful. The quality of the food and service is impressive.

The boat is kept clean and very well maintained. They do a great job of planning the itinerary to see beautiful parts of the countries they visit. Including seeing the sea life and local culture. For many of us guests the draw is the access to the remote, beautiful areas of the world to play on the water. The wide variety of gear stocked on the boat makes this easy. To top it off Dagmar and Bart are very professional, interesting and just fun to be with! I would highly recommend the Zen Quest.”

“We had the incredible opportunity to sail with Bart and Dagmar through the breathtaking Tuamotus Archipelago for our honeymoon, and it was truly one of the most special trips of our lives. Bart and Dagmar are exceptional hosts (warm, welcoming, and passionate for what they do). The food on board was absolutely outstanding, and every moment was filled with fun, relaxation, and unforgettable memories. We couldn’t have asked for a better honeymoon!”
