Meet the crew

Captain Pieter Moller

Pieter grew up on the west coast of South Africa in a small town called Vredenburg, spending weekends and holidays free-diving for lobster.

After 16 years in the family business, the call of the sea finally became too strong to ignore, and he decided to pursue a career as a yacht Captain.

He has a passion for fishing, diving, water sports, and all things ocean-related, and loves sharing these experiences with guests while exploring the beautiful Caribbean. With six years of experience as a Captain, Pieter has put down roots in the Caribbean, which he now proudly calls home.

His first love, however, came long before sailing. As a Divemaster, diving will always be his greatest passion. With extensive knowledge of the ocean and its marine life, he enjoys sharing his enthusiasm and educating the next generation of divers.

When he isn't at the helm, you'll find him crafting Instagram-worthy cocktails. As an accomplished mixologist, he'll make sure you always have a drink in hand.

Chef Julia Creigh

Coming across the seas from the East Coast of Australia, Julia grew up baking alongside her mother and grandmother learning the home classics and passed down family recipes. After a challenging few years working as pediatric nurse during the global pandemic, she took the opportunity to explore the world, tasting culinary delights in many parts of Asia and Europe.

Julia comes from a strong hospitality background working in several established venues in Sydney both behind the bar and front of house. She has completed a number of culinary courses with Le Cordon Bleu, the Australian Patisserie Academy and now Galley Gang and is so passionate about delivering delicious food and a unique hospitality experience.

First Mate GK Hwata

Born in Zimbabwe and raised between Zimbabwe and South Africa, I have always been happiest in the water. Fishing, spearfishing, freediving and scuba diving have always been my greatest passions, alongside volunteering with the National Sea Rescue Institute in South Africa. In 2017, I decided to make the ocean my office and became a scuba diving instructor. Since then, I have been fortunate enough to exploring some of the best dive sites on the planet.

One of my greatest passions is continually expanding my knowledge of the ocean. Over the years, I have completed courses in underwater photography and videography, as well as shark awareness and behavior.

After nine years as a diving professional, the time has come for a new adventure—one that allows me to spend more time on top of the water than beneath it. I am looking forward to creating unforgettable experiences for guests onboard and helping them make memories that will last a lifetime.

Deeply grateful for the experience you created.

“Dear Lyra crew,

I wanted to take a moment to tell you how deeply grateful I am for each of you and for the experience you created. This sailing event was memorable in ways I didn’t fully expect and that is entirely because of the professionalism, kindness, attention to so much detail, and generosity you brought on board. From the steady leadership of the captain, to the dedication and quiet competence of the first mate, to the incredible care and talent of an amazing cook who made every meal something to look forward to, I was continually struck by how seamlessly you worked together. There was a sense of calm, confidence, and genuine hospitality that made it easy to relax and truly be present.

As we prepare to go home, I’m surprised by how hard it is to leave. In such a short time, you became more than a crew, you felt like family. Thank you for sharing your talents, your time, and your hearts. This is an experience we will remember forever.

With sincere appreciation, Bernadine & Steve Davis

’Til we meet again ❤️”

To the crew,

Thank you so much!!!

What an amazing time!!!

Everything was top notch and you made it so seamless!! Who can’t love sushi on the beach and champagne at the Baths!!

Also I think this turned into a new adventure for the girls who were afraid of being sea sick! They loved it!!!

I hope we cross paths again on another charter.

Be well and stay well!!!

Cant wait to be back!

We couldn’t have asked for a better holiday. We wanted to explore the Grenadines and were blown away by the crew’s knowledge of the area.

The food was incredible and the deserts were out of this world. The kids ate everything, which surprised us as they are very picky.

The baot was always in prestige condition. Our cabins were cleaned every day, swim towels were fresh every morning and nothing ever looked out of place.

The crew have high standards of service and hospitality and make us feel like we were at a 5 star resort!

Can’t wait to be back,

The Anderson family

We adore the Lyra crew!

Asking the crew to anchor the boat in once place and use the tender for excursions was a big ask, but whatever we requested, the crew made sure we had.

Captain Brandon Stern tied us next to an amazing reef which we had as our morning view and also got to scuba dive.

Our bellies were always full, everything was always clean and we had the most relaxing environment with music, games, books and a very entertaining crew!

Stories were shared, friends were made and a lot of water toys were used.

We adore the Lyra crew and we recommend her to everyone!
