Greek Islands, Italy’s Amalfi, French Riviera, Spain
Your honeymoon memories will last forever so why not celebrate your wedding by honeymooning on a private luxury yacht in the Mediterranean. Your Honeymoon should be more than just a vacation; it should be relaxing for you and your partner to unwind in the Med after all the months of hectic planning for your recent wedding.
Why not try something a little different? A private luxury yacht charter allows you to be served 5-star menus for every meal; where you will enjoy new sights every day and where you are in control of the pace of the day. It can be as active or as tranquil as you like.
Destinations in the Mediterranean perfect for yacht honeymoons consist of the Greek islands, Spain, Corsica, Croatia, Turkey, Italy, and the French Riviera.
There are several clusters of Islands in Greece. The most popular consist of the Ionian, Peloponnese, Sporades, Cyclades, and Dodecanese groups of islands. While you’ll want to visit all these islands, we suggest you don’t do it. It is ideal to stick to a cluster of islands within proximity of each other to fully enjoy and live in the moment instead of sailing for extended period of times.
The Cyclades is home to the famous Mykonos, Santorini and other islands. Mykonos is known for their active nightlife and beautiful beaches while Santorini is known for beautiful views, wineries, tours and hikes. Santorini is known as the Island of luxury and romance.
Crete is the largest Greek island and is known for is its glorious beaches, impressive mountainscapes, rich culture and history. If you are chartering a large motor yacht that travels fast you can spend a couple days here exploring and enjoying a romantic stroll on one of the white beaches.
French Riviera is beautiful, and an ideal charter could start in St. Tropez and include Cannes, Nice or Monaco. For a 10-day trip you can cross the 80 mile stretch to Corsica and Sardinia. Best time of year to charter is late spring, summer, and early fall. The water remains warm through September and you can avoid the crazy crowds by chartering in September. In Europe families will not be vacationing in September due to school schedules.
The Northern Italian Coast charters generally start in Genoa or Portofino, Santa Margherita Ligure or La Spezia. This itinerary would include the Cinque-Terre region and all the little ports and villages on the coast where you can have your Captain book you a romantic dinner for two onshore. You can choose to disembark in Civittavecchia (Rome) or Naples (Napoli).
The Southern Italian (Amalfi) Coast is a favorite for charterers, yachts generally pick up in Napoli and cruise the Amalfi and the islands of Ischia and Capri all the way to Salerno. If it is a larger faster yacht you can include parts of Sicily in this equation although this is usually a stand-alone charter destination.
Sicily and the Aeolian Islands are another favorite destination. Yachts will usually pick up in either Napoli, or Reggio di Calabria which has an airport close by and of course Palermo in Sicily. Sicily is delightful with quaint little villages scattered all around the coast, the people are very kind and the food and wine is to die for!
